To ensure that the outcomes of the FORESIGHT project will be exploited and continued to be used, even beyond the project duration, it is important to define which results are the most promising, which exploitation routes will be chosen and who has the rights to which result. To this end, the FORESIGHT consortium considered various areas that will be presented in this article.
To advance Cyber Security training for stakeholders in the Naval domain, FORESIGHT developed a training curriculum based on a series of training courses and practical exercises. The developed training collateral was evaluated in a customised pilot where trainees provided were with the opportunity to interact with experienced cyber security trainers. Lessons learned from all the FORESIGHT Training pilots are summarised.
To advance Cyber Security training for stakeholders working or aspiring to work in the Power Grid and Energy distributions sector, FORESIGHT developed a training curriculum based on a series of training courses and practical exercises. The developed training collateral was evaluated in a customised pilot where interested trainees were provided with the opportunity to interact with experienced cyber security trainers using the FORESIGHT Federated Training Platform.
To ensure that the training materials provided on the FORESIGHT Platform will be useful to their end users, people concerned with cybersecurity training, the consortium conducted interviews with relevant target groups. These interviews aimed to gather insights into their needs and requirements in the areas of cybersecurity training and training in cyber-ranges.
Service providers, in their quest to optimise power distribution and improve the quality of their services, have adopted the smart grid paradigm by integrating power and information technologies into their existing electrical grid infrastructure. Each of them faces a unique set of challenges when it comes to cybersecurity training, due to the highly-specialised and proprietary nature of smart grid infrastructure. Cyber ranges, virtualised environments tailored to each provider’s needs, can become a significant part of cybersecurity training by creating a realistic environment that closely resembles what technicians and cybersecurity professionals experience in their daily operations.
As most information is stored online nowadays and the internal infrastructure of organisations depends highly on its network, cyber-attacks become more and more sophisticated and perilous since the attacker’s side has more to gain. Cyber security education is a continuous process and needs to constantly be adapted, which can be positively impacted with the use of gamification on the corresponding platform that a user selects to be trained on.
To advance Cyber Security training for stakeholders working or aspiring to work in the Aviation sector, FORESIGHT developed focus trainings and practical exercises. The developed training collateral was evaluated in a customised pilot where interested trainees were provided with the opportunity to interact with experienced cyber security trainers using the FORESIGHT Federated Training Platform.
The FORESIGHT project developed a federated Cyber Training environment between remotely distributed assets. These assets are three Cyber Ranges and six Training Environments located throughout Europe. In addition, an innovative curricula tool was developed to facilitate access to more than thirty online training courses and to utilise the federated assets to offer practical training exercises. The developed training environment was tested in three pilots.
The constant increase of cyber-attacks leads to a growing need for improved cybersecurity training. Cyber ranges can be a valuable tool for innovative and effective training of experts and non-experts. The projects FORESIGHT, CONCORDIA and SPIDER published a policy brief identifying the main challenges in the implementation of successful cybersecurity training and proposing recommendations to tackle them.
To maximise the dissemination and exploitation of the project’s results, FORESIGHT benefitted from the Horizon Results Booster. As part of the services of this programme, a project group was formed and a variety of joint activities, including a webinar, a social media campaign, and the creation of a policy brief, were carried out.
Cyber-MAR & FORESIGHT projects are glad to invite you to the Joint Webinar that will be conducted online, on 18.01.2022, at 10.00-12.30 CET, via Zoom platform.
The webinar “Cyber-Security challenges and future perspectives” is the continuation of a productive collaboration, that started almost a year ago, among the sister projects Cyber-MAR and FORESIGHT.
It serves as an introductory event to the upcoming joint Winter School on Cybersecurity that will be conducted in the last week of January.
Security depends on us!
The user must not represent the problem but an essential part of the solution. The webinar and training offered by the Winter school aim to spread the culture of security and raise awareness of cyber risk.
The aim of the webinar is to share and disseminate awareness on cyber security issues, challenges and future perspectives from multimodal approaches.
Our event is addressed to stakeholders of all backgrounds that are interested in cybersecurity technological advancements.
The final agenda can be found here.
Mark your calendar and register to join our Joint Webinar!
Registration is free of charge but required.
Please use the link here to register and receive the connection details!
We are looking forward to seeing you soon!
Within the framework of the 2021 IEEE CSR International Conference, FORESIGHT Project in collaboration with CyberMAR, SPIDER, AR THREAT ST, ECHO, CONCORDIA Cyber Security for Europe and SPARTA projects, co-organises the “Cyber Ranges and Security Training (CRST) 2021” Workshop.
Cyber-attacks are increasing in both sophistication and scale, revealing the extent at which critical infrastructures and other information and communication systems are exposed. More highly skilled cyber security professionals are needed with a deep understanding of cyber-security to deal with the fast growing number of cyber-threats. Cyber-security education and training are becoming more and more relevant as it is the only way in which such incidents can be prevented and handled adequately.
FORESIGHT Project joined Cyberwatching.eu PROJECT HUB which is Europe’s only complete and unabridged compilation of EU-funded research projects on cybersecurity topics. It was created specifically to facilitate information transfer, communication and cross-pollination.is inviting all experts and professionals involved in cyber-security training, education and ideally with cyber-range experience.
Your participation will greatly contribute to advance the training curricula aimed at cyber-security professionals to implement and combine security measures in innovative ways.

The digitalisation of our society introduces both opportunities and risks. Organisations and businesses from all sectors are increasingly using and integrating IT systems and networking technologies, and thus are proportionally becoming more dependent on continued availability, confidentiality, accuracy and protection of information.
FORESIGHT Project contributes its part to counteract the COVID-19 situation. All face-to-face activities, physical meetings and travels are currently put on hold. However, despite such challenges, the project is still going strong and progress is being made, thanks to all the hard working and dedicated partners.
FORESIGHT successfully organised a productive 2-days technical meeting was held at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK, in 16th – 17th January, 2020.
KEMEA being the Coordinator of the Horizon 2020 Foresight Project, successfully organized between 1 – 2 October 2019, the project Kick off Meeting in Athens, Greece. The meeting was attended by 50 representatives of FORESIGHT Consortium. During the KoM the project partners discussed the planned work and decided about the near future actions taken within the framework of the project.
